The Skurka Aerospace Inc. APC Starter Generator Line was designed for the starting of turbine engines and generating electrical power for APU’s. SAI is in development testing on two lines of DC brushless starter generators – one that provides a 28VDC power supply and another that provides a 270VDC power supply.
The standard 28VDC brushless starter generator is a drop-in replacement of the brushed units and offers a continuous load of 150, 200 or 300 Amps. The high-voltage 270VDC brushless starter generator is designed for higher-load requirements, capable of supplying 12 to 30kW of power. Both units are self-cooled and operate over a speed range of 6,800 to 12,000 RPM.
The SAI brushless starter generator is a rugged design construction with improved durability and reliability over traditional brush starter generators. Reliability is improved through the elimination of brushes and the mechanical commutator as life limiting elements which improves the TBO to 5,000 hours.
Advantages of the brushless starter generator include increased efficiency and reliability, reduced noise, reduced FOD from brush dust, longer operating life, reduced electromagnetic interference (EMI), elimination of sparks from the commutator, and a more compact unit that offers more overall power.

Analog and Digital Generator Control Units (GCU) are available to pair with the SAI starter generators.
